What does Burgman mean?

Posted by Delrond in May 27th 2008

As many of you know, I ride a Suzuki Burgman 650 motorscooter. In Japan the Burgman line are called “Skywave” (which I think is an appropriate name for such technologically advanced machines), but the marketing folk at Suzuki for some reason call them “Burgman” in Europe and the Americas.

A member of the Burgman owners’ forum [...]

To ABS or Not To ABS? That Is The Question

Posted by Delrond in May 20th 2008

As far as ABS is concerned Ive learned to accept its value and lifesaving properties on 4 wheels as its come on so many times when driving my car. Probably a reflection of how bad a driver I really am. I’m sure today its improved on 2 wheels anyway and will offer a real contribution [...]

When Should You Use Your Kymco Kill Switch?

Posted by Delrond in May 15th 2008

You have to turn the keyed ignition off any time you walk away from your steed, and take the key with you, so from that standpoint it doesn’t matter if you stop the motor with the handlebar kill switch.

Having said that, when I ride one of my two wheelers and it has a handle bar [...]

How to Change a belt on your Kymco - 5 Questions Answered!

Posted by Delrond in May 7th 2008

1. At what point should this belt be checked or replaced?
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=+site:www.tradebit.com+kymco+manuals , the belt on the X-500 needs to be checked, not replaced every 12,000 miles. This is also listed in the owner’s manual. Scarabeo 200 vs. Virago 250, Who would win in a fight?

Posted by Delrond in May 1st 2008

I like the Virago 250. I think it is a cool bike. For a beginner there are advantages to a scooter. Storage and wind protection are nice features but automatic transmission and clutch make
learning to ride easer and safer.

As for the size of the bike you are going to ride it not carry it. With [...]

Is the Grand Vista really for Douche Bags?

Posted by Delrond in April 29th 2008

No, the Grand Vista is a great ride and I highly recommend it.

Pros:
Solid design.
Large storage.
Very nimble and quick.
Steady at high speeds.

Cons:
Small gas tank.

High seat.
Cramped seating.
Short windscreen makes for noisy ride at high speeds.
Truly a great bike and fun to ride. The digital dash let’s you switch between kilometers
and miles. The electric folding mirrors [...]

Do you know the difference between a KYMCO and SYM scooter?

Posted by Delrond in April 16th 2008

There is no need to worry about the quality of SYM scooters. They are as good as KYMCOs. SYM and KYMCO are fiercely competitive against each other in their domestic Taiwan market to be the market champ. To give you an idea, KYMCO and SYM constantly battle for the market share lead with Yamaha Taiwan [...]

What every body ought to know about buying a kymco

Posted by Delrond in April 15th 2008

Pick the scooter that fits you the best. You may recognize that you would grow out of a 50cc size too soon.
In the Kymco line up, the People 150 is the most popular model with female riders. It seems to have the size, power, and light weight to be gal friendly.
A 150 [...]

Don’t leave your helmet unattended, even for a minute.

Posted by Delrond in April 9th 2008

On one of my rides during a holiday in Auz I refueled in Melbourne. When I went to pay, I saw someone carrying a helmet in the reflection in the glass doors. As there were no other bikes in the servo, I turned around to see a young guy put my helmet in the back [...]
