It seems this blog post has been discussed at http://www.nyscooterclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6196

I have tried to register and comment but it’s taking time for me to receive my registration email!

Firstly by using the title and picture of the Pink Vespa I was not trying to generalise all female scooter riders. Although when I re-read the post i can understand how many take that to be the meaning.

It was just that seeing a pink vespa reminded me about how many female vespa riders are out there.

I hope i have not offended anyone by using the pink vespa imagery and as i stated in the blog I have a lot to learn about female vespa riders.

as aawatters stated: “perhaps the first thing he should realize is that female scooterists don’t all ride pink scooters or even in dresses and skirts. We are often disguised in jeans, a jacket and a helmet. ”

I’ll keep an eye out for all you disguised female riders when i next stop at the lights!

LOL, sorry Delrond for starting a hubub over your post. I guess the way you phrased it just made me think (from experience) “Uh oh, wait ’till female scooterists see this.” Here in NYC, I’m sure we do have some pink scooter riders who fit the stereotype (nothing wrong with that), but there are at least as many cool, tough, happenin’ women who prefer, shall we say, a more urban style and who know how to repair their vintage (or modern) bikes on the fly. No worries, scootering is partially about the freedom to express one’s individuality whether it is colored pink OR black. keep on bloggin’!

Hey Danny,
If you want to learn more about female scooterists, you might want to check out http://www.scooterdiva.com.

You will find that there are more to scooter girls than pretty pastel colors :)

I can’t believe I didn’t hear about this post since my site Girlbike was so prominently mentioned! I found it while wandering around searching for posts about pink scooters after I launched a site about… you guessed it… pink scooters (scootpink.com). I hope you’ll submit your pink Vespa photo to the site, and maybe it will cause some more controversy. :-) And if you miss girlbike, you can find all its content over at scooterfix.com.
